Olympus FL900R and HiRes/focus stacking

Do any Hoggers have practical experience, or knowledge of a tuturial, in setting up an FL900R speedlite for HiRes and focus stacking images? I'm not sure how flash requency and number of flashes relate to the camera settings in either mode. I would be very grateful for any tips, as I have been unable to find anything on the Internet or YouTube. I own an EM1X and an EM1 mark III, both of which are compatible with the modes in question. Thanks a lot.

You should look in your manual. The focus bracketing topic will be largely helpful. I have a PENF and your cameras will be a bit different but very similar.

The maximum shutter speed is that used by the silent mode. For the PENF it is 1/20 sec. Yours, I think may be higher. In the silent mode settings you will need to allow flash. All features that use silent mode should work the same.

Focus Bracketing will be more flexible than focus stacking mode which produces .jpg output.

p 148 and 157 in the EM 1 MkIII manual are probably the most relevant.

At 1/20 sec you wouldn’t need hss cuz it’s below synch speed.

I’ve only used stacking on a pen-f and acoarst it’s jpeg. But I’ve been reading about the mark3 and I seem to recall it could do raw stacking ? Also handheld stacking ? Not sure ....

Mostly this a case of RFM but a bit tricky. In this instance 1/20 sec IS the maximum sync speed for modes that use silent shutter.

On the PENF focus stacking has very limited utility focus bracketing is much more flexible.

Check the manual. I use Darrell Young's book for the Olympus E-M1, II. There's a delay you have to set between shots to allow time for the flash to recharge. I've never done it, but remember reading about it.
