I was going back through some of my earliest photos and adding some newer techniques I have learned in darktable and thought this was a neat thing to share.
Some backstory on this combination cover:
When I retired from the Navy in 2017, the Chiefs Mess I was a part of worked with my wife to "acquire" my cover without my knowledge and have it bronzed as a retirement gift. For those that have served in the Navy, this was a very special gift as this was the original cover that I was pinned in and subsequently advanced to Senior Chief in. I refused to buy a new one even though this one was starting to show signs of wear and tear from daily usage.
I know the composition isn't spectacular, and I think I had my camera and darktable for about a month when this was taken, but any suggestions are more than welcome.
Cheers,
Tony

Congratulations Senior Chief!
No more wear and tear on this one, Chief. Congratulations from a retired Army ground pounder.

Mike,
I spent many many years supporting special mission Army units and wouldn't change any of it. They were at the top of their game and awesome people to boot!
Thank you!
The composition projects an air of service, dedication and perseverance. It's both beautiful and touching just the way it is. Thank you for your service.
Looks like they did a beautiful job. Keep it dusted.

I appreciate the kind words. And great feedback for sure!

Thanks!!! It is still pristine for sure!
Nice job Senior Chief.
My dress blue gabardines boght at The Big O at gate to Norfolk Naval Station in 1968 hang in the attic and from time to time I look at them and think back.
Thanks for your service. I am still proud of the 3 years, 8 months and 6 days I spent from 1967 to 1971. And of the fact that I went from boot camp to E5 in a little over a year.
Thanks for your service.
I know well the sentiments connected to that first combination cover. Never would have thought to have it bronzed. I really feel like an old man now. Retired '92. Congrats Tony.
