Fish Fight--between Osprey and White Pelican

Went to the lake this morning to capture fishing osprey and came away with a surprise.
In the sequence of attached images, we see an osprey's initial dive into the water for a fish. This is follow by a white pelican in pursuit of the osprey's breakfast. All images are full size except for one cropped image to show the osprey losing the fish and the pelican in a desperate lung to retrieve it. A final image of the osprey's escape. In the entire 15 captured image sequence I cannot tell if the pelican was able to steal the fish.
Granted, the sequence is not totally in focus and there is camera movement as I try to follow the action. Still, an interesting nature sequence.

How spectacular! I would never imagine this happening, and even though I've seen both species many times, I never realized the size difference. Super-duper!

For that pelican to react in such short order, seems like both birds were going after the same fish but the osprey got there first. Fun capture!

Interesting and fun event captured here, thanks! Even if the pelican didn't steal the fish he stole the territorial moment.
