I have an X-T3 and have it configured to use the front command dial to change the aperture (yeah I know that's very old school, and I'm happy to admit I'm still living in the DSLR world). But it works for me.

Overall I'm very happy with this setup but the only complaint I have is to use it in this way I have to set the aperture ring to "A" and it's just too easy to accidentally knock it off this setting.

I've been thinking of putting some sticky tape over it to hold it (or maybe some superglue ). Has anyone else come up with a smarter way to do this?

Thanks!

A thin strip of a good quality strong and clear tape will hold it forever.

Agree?

I believe the O ring was a serious and doable solution. You may want to rethink it.

We don’t hafta always get along for me to acknowledge when you exhibit a moment of brilliance.

As to the practical matter re your lens, and various other lenses, the O-ring adds some friction (stop snickering!). If it’s too “fat” it will just roll away from where you want it. If it’s too narrow ... we already disgust that. Obviously this method requires that there be a non rotating section of the barrel adjacent to the control ring.

Try it. You don’t want the f-stop ring accidentally moving during your niece’s wedding ;-)
