When you are running outdated software, don't expect that you will be able to upgrade any piece of your system/workflow. Outdated is just that. Will continue to work with what you purchased it for but will. most likely not work on newer stuff. Outdated software will also not include newer software features. Keep the same computer hardware, the same version of the OS and the same camera make/model and you'll be fine. If you upgrade one part, perhaps not so fine. Best of luck.

Adobe Camera Raw is not plug-in-play with all historical software. CS6 was limited to ACR 9.1.1, see Adobe support: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html

The short answer is use the DNG converter if you don't want to go to the current Adobe CS.

I used the DNG for several years. The only down side is that you will have a "duplicate" additional set of files.

The converter is easily downloadable and free.
