Very sad to make the great George Carlin look a bit stupid. He had it right for hamburgers but not for something that has killed 130,000 U.S. citizens and will probably bump up to 150,000 by end of August. Stay safe my friends and be judiciously careful. That's why George Carlin was never run over by a car and avoided so many other dangers. We CAN be prudent. We are NOT being prudent right now. Not enough anyway. Have a great day everyone.
LOVE IT!
So true about the sterile field area people try to keep anymore.
(As a kid I used to go fishing using worms for bait, rinsed my hands in the creek and ate my sandwich for lunch...)
Saw him live once.

I could watch only a little bit of it before I gagged, but George’s comments had it totally wrong as far as Covid-19 is concerned. If you catch Covid-19, you may be killed or hampered for life, and there is no way of telling which alternative will hold, so the best strategy is to avoid it.
Thanks for the chuckle, I think that we all know that Covid is a bit different I like his comments mirroring the words of Ben Franklin.
A cantankerous comedian playing for laughs in a simpler time. As Bob Seeger sang, “I wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then.”

George Carlin died in 2008 of a heart failure. I wonder what his comedy gig would sound like today...
I don't think he would have said anything kind about the woke world we now live in, just saying...
For those who think the Carlin bit actually applies to Covid-19, you should try swimming in raw sewage and see how that works for you!
Some of our population would rather believe an untrained (but, albeit funny) comedian on a highly technical/medical matter than listen to the leading medical/scientific experts regarding life affecting germs, viruses and diseases. I am amazed how we often tie our own hands behind our backs when resisting or fighting life and death matters!
From a strictly biological "survival of the species" point-of-view George is absolutely correct. In any population, disease, limited resources and predators are useful in eliminating the weak and sick members of a population, allowing the healthier, better adapted to survive and pass their genes along.
However, I'm not particularly inclined to volunteer to be one of the members "weeded out" to allow other members to survive so I'll take preventative measures rather than subjecting myself to the "test" of COVID 19.
Longshadow: You summed up my remarks well and succinctly. It was
great how well you were able to do
that. Unfortunately, so many will listen to the comments of George, totally accept it as some sort of gospel, and climb aboard, neglecting to assess and analyze his remarks for how or if it really applies. Too many out there will accept the humor as actual wisdom and ignore the knowledge shared by our medical experts.
Thanks again for your concise and accurate assessment.
