I had a 1950 so I know it's not that. I'm guessing 1953.

My parents owned a dark blue 1953 Ford when I was a child. My first thought was a 53 or 54.

It is a '53.

The '52, '53, and '54 shared the same boxy style with just trim, grille, and bumper differences.

The '49-'51 versions shared a rounder style, again with trim differences. Pictured is a '50 Ford.

I'd say you are correct. I worked as a car wash boy in a Ford dealership in '53 - '54 and I later owned a '49 Ford. Looks like a '53 to me, too.

my guess is 49 or 50 Ford, but containing the changes made to make the Fords of the same year different when made in canada or meybe the UK, in that case they werent called Fords...,but they were.... Ed

A '53. Note the sergeant stripes on the grill. I bought one in '57 (Jr. year in college) for $300, and ran the wheels off it. Great flat head V8. Had 4-60 AC- (roll down four and drive 60) no power steering, brakes etc. but Did have a good radio and a heater, but that's about all. Only had two white walls so I put both on the right side. Great little car.

That was a 1950 for sure. It was the first new car I bought. I sold my 36 Plymouth that my dad gave me on my 16th birthday to a friend. He used it all while in collage. It had over 100.000 when I sold it.

The earlier note of 53 custom line appears to be correct. google it and it shows up.

This was a stylish old girl. Any guesses at year & make.
It was my parents car back in my young days, I had the use of it when they upgraded.
It towed a heavy caravan across Australia & back, maybe twice.

Nice shot, definitely a '53.

It's a 1953 Ford. The V8 symbol says that the engine is an 8 cylinder flat head.

It's definitely early '50s. Fords made in Windsor Canada looked a little bit different from Fords made across the river in Detroit. That picture is from Australia so who knows where it was made and that may add to the confusion.

the 49 ford had "banana " shoped running lights in front, in 50 they were round on the rectangular metal background

the lessonlearned is that we should rename our photos by date and store them by date... that gives some chance of locating an old photo... Ed
