Not sure if it was from heron or camera? Shot with Canon 6D Mark II, Tamron 150-600 @ 600, 1/1250, ISO 3200.

Looks like your bird lost a wing but doing well on one wing. I had to say that it’s an HaHa moment.
I’m not sure what happen here.

It’s a repeat of the image of the upper portion of the wing image in each image. Must be the camera.

Is the camera set for double exposures and in camera HDR?

One shot exposed for the brightest light off the white wings and the second one a split second later at normal exposure.

No. All in manual except for ISO. Spot sensor for light

I believe our Scottish friend is correct. bioteacher, go into your post-processing software and reduce the exposure a lot. I think you'll find that the object "floating" over the egret's feet in the first photo is the underside of the tip of the right wing with the rest of the wing blown out so you don't see it. If you look at the second photo you will see the same thing but with much more of the wing showing. R.G. got it right. You could try reducing the whites a lot and/or reducing the highlights and see if that brings it back. Or you could leave it as is and let people wonder what the heck is going on there.

Thank you. You were correct, but I don't think I will tell anyone and let them guess what happened.
