On Good Friday in 1930, the BBC reported, "There is no news." Instead, they played piano music.

It was a different time. As a child, my Mother kept me in the house between noon and 3 on Good Friday.

When I was a child (~1954), my parents never locked their doors at night. When leaving for a weekend trip, they also didn't lock the house. I asked my Mother why and her answer was "what if the neighbors needed to borrow something, or there was a problem?" We never had a break in or theft.

Different times indeed.

Whole different mindset also.

I remember that. I was in grade school at a Catholic's school. I call that period in my life the dark ages.

Back then the media reported the news, rather than creating it.

That is very "BBC" and very British. Oh to be in that position again .

Keep safe and well.

I remember the entire 50's as the quietest period of my life. Although I now know about what happened during that period, at the time, it seems to be very peaceful.

Ahhh, the 50's. Sounds familiar. We never locked the doors. I dont even remember having a key for them.
We also left the key in the car overnight. Never had a problem. Now that part of life I do miss.
