I catch (and swat) an abundance of Houseflies as well as the much larger Flesh Fly however the Green Bottle Fly like this one are more of a rare find. I caught this one resting on the wall and I slooooooly placed the jar over it and then dispatched it for this magnified view and focus stacking session.

Thanks, UTMike. Flies may not be ones desirable subjects however I find them to be quite fascinating and of course to be a ready supply of being a subject for the camera.

That's great! Glad they don't get really big, that would be scary!

Nice shot. That fellow has some nasty looking mouth parts (right out of a nightmare).

Thanks for viewing and I agree that they are quite freaky looking.

Thanks, Don. Flies provide an endless supply of opportunities for me...although I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I've got a lot of macro shots but nothing that compares to this as I've never gotten into focus stacking. I shoot Nikon but years ago considered buying a Canon and their 5x macro lens but never did. Your work is phenomenal.

Thanks, this is taken with an old 28mm lens that was $45 on Ebay that I mounted in reverse on an old Novoflex bellows that I also got on Ebay. The bellows is a Nikon F mount and I use an adapter to go from the F mount to the Fujifilm camera's X mount.
