This is extremely late but the Alpha 6000 is brand new to me. Here’s my question regarding guide books. Any recommendations? I saw a few out there but I find some great information on here. Help me!

Gary Friedman’s “Friedman Archives Guide to the Sony A6000.” His is a very good guide to the camera. He knows his Sony’s and is easy to understand. He doesn’t just give the “what,” but also the “why” of something, as well as when to use a feature or control. You can download it or purchase it as a hard copy book.

Thank you. I like the why aspect. Telling me I shoot this or that doesn’t tell me why. I am also looking at a guy David Busch but still would like to see some conversation on here

I have his guides to a6000, a6300 and SONY RX10 miv. If he can make it clear to me you will have no problems! Inherited Bush's Guide to the a6300 but prefer Friedmans!

I don’t have Friedman’s A6000 book, but I do have the books for the A6300 and the RX100VII. I refer to them a lot.

I found everything I need to know about the A6000 and how to make the most of it from David Busch's guide book. When I got my A6000 I could only get the Kindle version - it was out of print and new hard copies were listed for $1,201 to $3,405 on Amazon at the time !!. Having the Kindle version on your phone is very useful. No matter how much you read the book, it is hard to remember everything in the field.

I have some other brands, models and have the David Busch's guide book(s). They have been very useful.

You should be able to pick one up used or discounted.

Great little camera. What glass are you using? Good luck! J. R.

Gary Friedman is the gold standard in my mind. Over 700 pages of great, useable, knowledge. Not cheap - around 70 USD, but much more valuable in terms of giving you command over your camera...just my opinion. I religiously get one for every camera I buy: indispensable to me.

I also bought David Busch's guide when I bought my A6000. It is excellent. I read it straight thru the 1st time and have referred to it numerous times since then for help. It covers everything you will ever need to know about your A6000 and will answer all your questions about this fine little camera.

You can try the Friedman books for free for 2 weeks. https://www.friedmanarchives.com/sony-a6000/
I’m on my 5th Sony and have bought one with each camera.

Thank you everyone. I will look at the 2 week free download. Once again the hog is the most valuable tool.

The how is valuable too. It raises the question, who’s on first?
