My wife brushed one of the Labs yesterday evening - as a result of fur left behind, I was greeted by a nest builder and in addition, the closest Mule Deer doe in a while - too much lens for the latter, so a head shot. D7200 200-500 5.6

when we kept alpacas, shearing time was always popular with the local birds … we actually made a little dispenser for the scrap fur

Great idea - with 3 big dogs, substantial fur. Maybe a spare suet basket. Thanks!

Nice photos!!

Many years ago I had 4 Akitas, 2 Alaskan Malamutes and a Chow....hair galore. I took 1 gallon milk jugs, cut holes in them, hung them up and filled them with the dog fur. They emptied quickly. The birds loved all that warm fur. On one particular day I went out to fill the bird feeders and found a squirrel sleeping in one of the fur jugs. He/she burrowed a hole in the middle of the fur and was cozy and warm. I swear I could see a smile on his/her face.

Whoa! That IS a collection - three can be severe if you are on the stairs and experience a "Dogalanche", can't begin to imagine seven. Thanks for the Milk jug idea. Q
