Hail in the Afternoon

A storm that was supposed to miss us suddenly blew in and gifted us with several minutes of hail as well as high winds and rain. No damage, fortunately, though some of the hailstones were an inch or better. Once I closed everything, I grabbed the DF I used for the landscapes this morning. It was still set at 1/320. If you zoom in, you can see white lines of hail falling. To the left under the trees in the first photo, to the right behind and over the pond in the second.Posted as a curiosity. The Lily (Hail) Stoned.

Interesting storm story and images. The good thing that you had no damage.

Thanks! Had a worse storm 15 years ago when I lived in another state, House Roof, Car, outdoor lights and furniture pretty well wrecked. Just lucky - not much you can do if it is a really bad one.

You had ice bombs falling! I'm glad you and your property survived!

Thank you! We were lucky - repairs are difficult to obtain and expensive in the Country.

from an inch to baseball size! we've had many a cotton crop hailed out in past years.

Thanks - may get another brush pass in a couple of hours - radar has worst to the north. Fingers crossed - there's been something everywhere I've lived. Floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, now, hail added, though I had a bad one in another state. Can't worry about what I can't change!
