Best solid case for camera gear?
I own a D7100 and a D750, along with SB-700 Speedlight. Looking for something to carry this gear along with Nikon’s Big 3 lenses. I have the 24-70mm f/2.8. The 70-200mm f/2.8 will be here this week, and I Know I will need the 14-24mm f/2.8 in the upcoming weeks. Gotten good comments often from UHH readers and need advice on the best value for the money in a tough, dependable, not terribly expensive case. Need it large enough to hold all my gear and still have a bit space for straps, hoods, etc. I’ve seen some pretty awesome gear. What would y’all say is the best current direction for cases if one is in the market for value for tough, dependable cases (not just the most expensive, please).
The strongest bags that I have checked out are the Lowepro Magnum series shoulder bags. They have a one-piece molded bottom that can take a lot of weight. I have the Magnum 200 bag. It's a fairly large shoulder bag. The Magnum 400 and 650 are even larger.
You did say hard case - I have both Tundra and Pelican the Tundra set up for D7200 with 200-500 mounted with room for a smaller lens as well as bits and pieces. The Pelican is a 1550 - I think that set up with dividers would do what you want. They can often be found used in good shape. Suggest dividers for the long haul instead of pluck foam.

Never used one, but they have a great reputation. There are a variety used on the 'Bay at good prices.
I prefer backpacks. I own Lowepro and Tenba. Due to the weight, I simply can’t comfortably carry a shoulder bag with two DSLR bodies and the big 3, let alone additional gear. Many backpack 18-20 inches tall, 13-15 inches wide should handle your gear. Look carefully at the pictures and look on YouTube for reviews to judge capacity. You won’t go wrong with Tenba or LowePro, they are tough and well designed.
The Pelican with dividers sounds nice. Don’t use foam as once it’s gone it’s gone. Haven’t considered a backpack. I’ll be traveling around the state on the campaign trail with my good friend who is running for Congress this fall. He’s getting his money’s worth cause I’m not charging him. Doing it for fun and experience. Besides, why let money ruin a good relationship. Will look more tomorrow. It’s late and the good woman is calling me to bed. Thanks and everyone have a blessed night. See you in the morning. Greer
SKB.
Tough, but not outrageously expensive.
I have a Pelican 1560 hard case I use to transport my Nikon D7200, D500 and D850 bodies and a few lenses. I also have several steel reinforced aluminum cases I bought from Harbor Freight. I custom cut heavy duty rubberized foam to hold my Canon 5D mk IV, 5DSr, 6D, 7D mk II, 70D, 80D and 90D, along with my SL1, SL2 and SL3, and several Canon and Sigma and Tamron EF mount lenses plus a case for my bridge cameras and cases for flash gear and accessories. I also have two soft cases, one is a ProMaster and the other is a large back pack labeled National Geographic. The Harbor Freight cases work quite well. They're about the size of a large brief case and and very customizable.
Could you clarify, please, whether these will be used for shipping, air travel to a destination, permanent storage, etc.? All of us face storage and travel challenges, and the intended usage could dictate the options.

I have a large pelican air that I use for both storage and transporting my gear. They are strong water resistant to several feet and secure as it gets. I have the dividers not the foam so it’s infinitely adjustable, I highly recommend them.
I use a Pelican Case for my Nikon Df along with a 50mm and 85mm. My new old school gear. Only use these lenses on this camera. I do have all the normal gear.
for my telescope eye pieces I use harbor freight metal brief cases about $25. find a 20% off coupon code too. i have back packs. one airport screener made me empty it cause I had so much stuff they couldn't see whst it was with scanner
