We changed from AT+T to Charter so the router ID and password are different. I tried figuring out which menu to go to in the online manual and run through the steps (attached to printer with USB cable, etc, but it didn't seem to work). My TR7520 was easy - it had instructions on a screen on the printer next to the power and scan buttons, but the big one is giving me fits. I don't have any room to put the printer next to my laptop and I don't want to move my laptop across the room to make a print.

When I change routers I always use the same ID and password that I used on the old ones. That way nobody in the household needs to change the settings on phones, tablets, laptops and printers. That might be the easiest thing for you to do.

I don't think it was possible to keep the old router. Spectrum sent over the new cable boxes, phone modem and router after we gave up on AT+T trying to get an appointment to get their stuff fixed. A few days later a couple techs set everything up for us (after I plugged most of the stuff in). We hadn't had and landline, computer or TV for like 4 days. Actually, we still don't have phone. It's in the process of being changed and I was told it won't happen until the 10th...another 5 days. Only cellphones until then.

You should be able to log into the admin page on the router and change both the ID and password from the default. Just Google spectrum and the router model (or ask Spectrum) and you should be able to easily find the default ID and PW to login. You access it with a web browser and just enter the IP address of the router - usually something like 192.168.1.1 or similar, and the default loggin and PW are typically something like “admin”. Once in, you can change the login and PW to match your old router and as long as the router and printer are set for DHCP, the printer will request an IP address from the router, which will assign one. That way, you don’t have to change any of your peripherals. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, call their support and either have them do it remotely or walk you through it.

I'm beginning to think it would be easier to just delete the printer from my computer and then re-intall the CD-ROM that came with it.

That should also work. I would on principal reboot after you remove it before reinstalling.

Have you tried just pressing the wi-fi button on the Pro-100 and then immediately pressing and holding the WPS button on the router for at least 5 seconds? Pressing WPS buttons often alleviates the need for entering wi-fi network passwords.

I ALMOST got it to work using your link. I pressed the WiFi button til it blinked and then hit the WPS button on the router....but the error light came on after a few minutes. When I printed the connection sheet it had the correct router, but it said "Inactive" in a couple places and "signal Strength 0%". Not sure what's going on.

It may be that the Pro-100 can only connect to 2.4GHz. Is your router 5GHz or dual band? If it's dual band you might be able to select just 2.4GHz to connect to the printer. How to do this may vary with your router. You could always try calling Canon 800-OK CANON.

I'll try to call Spectrum (although I don't relish being on hold forever). At least there was one small victory...I unplugged my laptop, carried it across the room, connected a USB/printer cable and was able to print a 16x9 print of an A-10 Warthog I took a pic of last year at Oshkosh (I've probably been there a dozen times or more). Here it is (even though I've posted it elsewhere).

Welcome to the world of deregulated utility services. Telecommunications service providers were at one time tightly regulated by state utility commissions on the rates they charged and their customer service levels. Since deregulation in the 80's, service and response levels have declined to the poor state we experience today. Also, the trend to "improve" customer service to the "let the customer to all the work" method means you get little to no support.

I don't rent my modems and routers - two houses, XFinity at one and Spectrum at the other. I have Motorola modems and (different) TP-Link routers at both.

Thanks :) It was taken with an a77 and Tamron 70-300 last summer. Next airshow I go to (maybe I'll have to go to Norway the way things are going in the US) I'll being my new substitute birthday present (a99ii) and my last-year-new 150-600. I was SUPPOSED to be in Spain for my birthday, but COVID-19 took care of that - used credits and booked to Ireland same time next year. If you want to see more pics I have them in a gallery on my FB page (link in signature).
