I finally did it. I made my own brushes from a butterfly and rose photos. The only things not from a PS brush are the two texture layers. I am glad I finally got around to it. Lots of fun!

Is it something in the water, or have we been influenced by our Create 52 Group? 😁 This is very lovely, Keni.

Since you are not in my water district I am going to say it is our Create 52 Group. Thanks!

I have been brush challenged for many years but just started playing with them. I don't know what the create52 group is and there's such a large distance between us all that it can't be the water, but it might be the air or the weather.

On the other hand, 2020 has had a strange effect on a lot of people, so it might just be the year.

Very nice and delicate Keni, I keep thinking I must try to make some brushes. I have made one of my signature..

Thanks Val! The easy part is making the brush. The hard part for me was finding a photo that had a good clear subject to use. My photos tend to be a little busy.

Really nice Keni but why a brush? Thanks to Linda I have been making some of my own brushes but I would have no idea how to use use that one. Obviously there advantages or you wouldn't have made it, can you tell me how you intend to use it?

Jack, I made the rose brush just to see if I could create my own brush. I used it to create the background along with some other brushes already in PS. You can't tell its a rose because it is overlapped with itself at different opacities and the other brushes like paint splatters and cotton balls to create the abstract flower effect. I decided my cool looking background needed a butterfly so I created the butterfly brush (I used it more like a stamp). I wanted the background colors to be seen through the wings. I could have composited in the butterfly photo and masked out the parts of the wings I wanted to be transparent but it was much easier to make the brush and use the threshold to determine the butterfly outline. Also the colors of the butterfly in the photo didn't match the colors of my background.

I don't know that I will ever use the butterfly brush again but you never know. It's there if I need it and I have learned a new skill.
