1. He did not say we “ we didn't need masks.” As you claim.
First you could listen to your video and hear that,

2. The full interview was “

“””@ LaPook, March 8: There’s a lot of confusion among people, and misinformation, surrounding face masks. Can you discuss that?

F***i: The masks are important for someone who’s infected to prevent them from infecting someone else… Right now in the United States, people should not be walking around with masks.

LaPook: You’re sure of it? Because people are listening really closely to this.

F***i: …There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask. When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is. And, often, there are unintended consequences — people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face.

LaPook: And can you get some schmutz, sort of staying inside there?

F***i: Of course, of course. But, when you think masks, you should think of health care providers needing them and people who are ill. The people who, when you look at the films of foreign countries and you see 85% of the people wearing masks — that’s fine, that’s fine. I’m not against it. If you want to do it, that’s fine.

LaPook: But it can lead to a shortage of masks?

F***i: Exactly, that’s the point. It could lead to a shortage of masks for the people who really need it.
“””

But of course you knew that since the YouTube video you tried to pawn off was only posted on you tube [u]today]/u] BY YOU. To fabricate your own back up.
You cherry picked a single phrase out of context to support you phoney lie .

Shame on you. From now on all will know you and what you are !

Oh I might add that was 20 March and at that time CDC recommendation was medical community were first in line for short supply of mask

127,000 dead in four months is less deadly than feared? Thats more the the Vietnam and Korean War combined. What would it take for you to call this truly deadly?

Are you saying the bureaucrat F***i wasn’t contradictory? Can you not do a simple search to see that he has been?

Anthony S. F***i, IS NOT the nation's top infectious-diseases expert, F***i is political. I'm not sure there is a real "nation's top infectious-diseases expert".

Well - I think the number of deaths is 500,000 and still rising. So he is not wrong about that. F***i, by the way, is the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. That would pretty much make him the "top infectious disease expert in the nation". I have not heard ANY public health or infectious disease expert contradict anything he says. In the beginning of the crisis there was not enough PPE for health care providers and the public was running around buying up every N95 mask at Home Depot, for example. Those not at potential risk did not really need to wear a mask. Now we are pretty much all at risk, and we understand a lot more about the v***s than we did at the beginning - like the fact that you can be contagious without having symptoms. Sorry that this disagrees with all the "alternative facts" that FoxTV has been telling you.

Ever hear of Incompetence? Just cause he is head of something does not make him competent in that position. Just ask Andrew Cuomo about his decision to place elderly c****-** sick people in nursing homes. Just ask De Blasio about his statement to the effect of go out and enjoy New York we got nothing to fear. A hospital ship in New York harbor not being used while all the older folks were dying in nursing homes. Well they were old and going to die anyways.

Well said. I guess as situations change some here don’t allow advice to change based on the current situation but would rather find fault . That is stupid .

You are referring to a statement made by F***i back in March. A lot has changed since March and you should try to keep up. At that time, F***i and others were concerned about the shortage of masks for medical personnel who desperately needed them. Please stop spreading misinformation during a deadly p******c simply to prop up your incompetent president.

Fact check by Snopes

Another rumor about the efficacy of wearing masks during the C****-** c****av***s disease p******c made the rounds in June 2020, a topic we have debunked numerous times at Snopes. A “60 Minutes” interview from early March 2020 with Dr. Anthony F***i, one of the leading members of President Donald Trump’s c****av***s task force, was being regurgitated on social media. In the segment,  F***i said there was no reason people in the U.S. needed to wear a mask.

The problem? That clip is old, and F***i was simply echoing what many others argued at that time, including the U.S. Surgeon General, the World Health Organization (WHO), and The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Since then, F***i’s views and that of most organizations have changed, as more information became available about the disease.

In the March 2020 clip, F***i said: “Right now in the United States people should not be walking around with masks … You should think of healthcare providers who are needing them and the people who are ill.”

Since at least April 2020, the CDC recommended that everyone wear cloth masks in public to help slow the spread of C****-**. That recommendation changed because of studies that found even people without c****av***s symptoms, but who may still have the disease, could t***smit the v***s through close interactions with others, especially through speaking, coughing, and sneezing:

In light of this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) …

Snopes has also covered the efficacy of masks in past fact checks, including the evolving recommendations of the U.S. surgeon general and the effectiveness of cloth masks in preventing the spread of the v***s.

F***i also clarified in a June interview that masks are helpful “… but it’s masks plus physical separation.” This is in line with the CDC guideline that, “The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.”

Given that the quote from F***i is no longer current, we rate this claim as “Outdated.”

I don't buy it. They were wearing masks in China yet he said we didn't need them here even though the data from China showed it to be highly infectious. The infectious disease experts who don't agree with everything he says are not given a voice in the media. There's a reason for that.

The quote is taken out of context. You may recall that at that point medical workers were experiencing a dangerously low supply of masks. Some were reported to use masks up to five times whereas they really are supposed to be used once and discarded.

Also, keep in mind a mask does not protect you from getting the disease; it helps you prevent spreading it to others. That Trump refuses to wear a mask has politicized what should be a medical "no brainer" but then again....

So what! Fouci said this along with all kinds of mixed signals. We remember well. Where is RixPix's reply?

"So what"? "All kinds of mixed signals"? It's astonishing that Trump and his followers don't REALLY listen to Dr. F***i. I doubt you and many others know the accomplishments and reliability of this man.
