There's something about home. You know, that place where you grew up, where you were a child, where play was the order of the day. Somehow it doesn't matter that the house is old and maybe even boarded up. I spent last week at my childhood home. It has been in our family since the 1830's, and one of the original buildings still stands. The house is now boarded up because of vandalism. But it's still "home." I can't say this is excellent photography. But I hope somehow I captured how I feel when I'm there.

One of the original trees. I think it's an ash. It has been hit by lightning a couple of times.

How cool is that! I'm glad it didn't take me that long! Thanks so much for visiting with me.

Really nice, Kathy. My first childhood home, from 0 to 5 yrs old, was a farm which is now suburban neighborhoods. My 2nd is still standing and occupied. I know how you feel seeing your old home.

Am a flat lander at heart. Lived in Kansas for a while in my life. Met my wife and started a family there. Your pictures bring back very fond memories. Very nice images and the story they tell is wonderful.

Thanks for sharing my visit. I'd really hate it if my farm became a suburb. Luckily, that won't happen in my lifetime - if ever!

There is something about that flat land, isn't there. I love being able to see a LONG way (on clear days, that is). I love the fields dotted with hundred-year-old houses. Thanks so much for sharing my visit.

Nice pictures, Kathy. Home is always a special place for me to - where I grew up over in Switzerland. Unfortunately because of the pandemic, I had to cancel this year's spring trip and the fall looks very iffy also. Glad you enjoyed your trip going home!

Nice photos, and how right you are! I have the privilege of living in a house I built (yes, me; my dad and I built it ourselves some fifty years ago) next door to the one I grew up in, a house where my daughter and her family now live. It’s a great life out here on the farm where I grew up. I like to travel and see new and different places, but it’s always nice to be back home. F. Scott Fitzgerald said that one can’t go home again. I wouldn’t know because I never left.

I can see how the memories would have been good! My cousin visited my childhood home a few years ago and sent me a lot of pictures. The barn deteriorated and was replaced with a similar one. The house had burned and been rebuilt. It was different but still the same!
