Australia’s taxpayer funded public broadcaster ABC is facing ridicule after announcing it would host a debate asking if chess is r****t because the white team traditionally gets to go first under the rules of the game.
A former member of the Australian Chess Federation discovered that the debate was set to take place when he was asked by a radio producer to take part.
“The ABC have taken the view that chess is R****T given that white always goes first!” tweeted John Adams, adding, “Trust the taxpayer funded national broadcaster to apply ideological Marxist frameworks to anything and everything in Australia!”
Furious Australians took to Twitter to express outrage that ABC was wasting money and time on such an irrelevant question.
“People want the national broadcaster to focus on bigger issues,” said one. “People are struggling with the economy, with their health, with the lockdown. They don’t want their money wasted on bulls**t.”

Just because we get healthcare and pharmaceutical benefits right doesn't mean we're perfect.
Two excellent ABC news shows: Planet America Wed and Fireside Chat Fri. Expert Yank guests (good people from both sides) appear. It's going to be broadcast here in about 30 min.
It can be a little annoying because of PC contortions by one presenter to appear fair to Trump.

I loved the Star Trek episode where they broke the rules and intervened on a planet that was in the middle of a race war. Captain Kirk didn't understand when he beamed up the leaders of the two warring factions when they explained the reason they were at war with each other because they each felt that their race was superior to the other. These people were white on one side and black on the other. Well how are you two different? Kirk Asked. "You fool! One said - don't you see? He is black on the LEFT side, but I am black on the RIGHT side!"
I was reminded of this story because I was thinking: "why not have the chess pieces white on one side and black on the other"? But then realized that some people would find fault in that. OK - so the new chess pieces (until someone complains) could be: one side will be yellow with green spots, and the other side will be green with yellow spots!
