Although I've never shot Olympus, but this saddens me to see it happen!

I had a TG4, now passed to travel partner, which I liked so much, I bought a TG6. It's attractiveness for me is the toughness. Small enough to carry all day as a spare, perfect to carry at night when you don't want to carry a camera bag. Yes, I know there are mobile phones for that, but I like the RAW capability and the waterproofness. There certainly are trade-offs, but not having to worry about it is worth it to me.
My first SLR in the 70's was an OM10 and of all the cameras I've had since, that was my favorite.
This was coming. Olympus has sustained losses in their camera division for the past three years. There is no way a company can keep on doing business when the profit is not there.
Olympus ha sold the trademark, the R&D and the personnel. We heard of the news yesterday from Olympus but we have not heard from JIP the company that is buying. Robin Wong, Olympus Visionary from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Peter Forsgard Olympus Visionary from Finland had telephone calls from Olympus yesterday announcing the news. They both had comments to make but there is nothing known about the future once the company is transferred to JIP.
I bet sales of Olympus cameras and lenses will take a beat.
Sad day for me. I purchased my 1st Olympus camera a Pen 1/2 frame from the PX while in Vietnam.
I still have OM1 and OM2 film cameras and ancillary Olympus equipment.
