tks, gessman,
I sorta kinda "worshipped" Adams and the like when I was in my teens, all those b&w 'magicians.' His zone exposure system made so much sense at an earlier age for me. That and my grandfather's advice to "see" the finished pix first before snapping saved me a lot of $ on Tri-X and Plus-X in those days, and later Ilford.
(Granpa took my avatar pix on his Rollei and I flat scanned it)
Sure looks like your granpa knew what he was doing and passed it on. I had a look at Adam's zone system one time right after automatic cameras came out. I looked at the camera, looked back at the zone system, picked the camera up, walked out, and haven't looked back. I had stayed awake at night there for a spell trying to get that to sink in and it just didn't happen. I don't always shoot on auto all the time now but I promise you that neither is any of Adam's proteges in any danger of being overtaken by me at the local art fair.
