Cops are being demonized all over the country, it seems that the democrat political establishment have made the police enemy number one cities are now actually cutting back on their budgets or v****g to defund them completely....

I think that it would be great, especially since I don't live in one, if the police in several major cities would have a blue flu week, having the entire force call in sick for a week so that these vain politicians would have to deal with their absence and the havoc that would create in their cities.

Intellectually I agree with your thought; reasonably I don't

Your suggestion is comparable to hoping that the rate of C****a v***s infections surges so that Trump does not get re-elected.

As a physician I have to be accountable if I have an error in judgement that harms or k**ls someone. Even if it was not my intention (!) to harm or k**l them. Although I probably would not be criminally charged, I would face losing my license and career and civil litigation - I have no immunity from being sued. I am obligated to report any significant violations of medical practice standards by a colleague to the licensing board. I am required to take 50 hours of continuing education yearly to maintain my license. The licensing boards communicate with each other - I cannot screw up badly in one state, face disciplinary action, and then simply move to another state.

None of this used to be true. But people - and the profession - realized that doctors are humans. We make mistakes - but sometimes those mistakes were avoidable and sometimes the doctor should be punished or removed from the profession. And sometimes the doctors should be arrested (especially in misuse of their prescribing authority with controlled drugs).

So - all I can say to the brave men and women in blue, whom I respect greatly, is "buckle up buttercup - the times are changing - it can still be a great profession, but standards will be higher, scrutiny will be sharper, and repercussions for episodes of poor judgement - especially when you use your weapon - will be harsher".

There are two problems with the police departments: 1) most are already under funded 2) the unions.
The unions protect the good officers but also protect the bad ones. With the unions you cannot get rid of the bad ones. It is the same the teachers.

How do you figure? My suggestion is that the police demonstrate to the communities that are disparaging them and threatening their careers just how vital of a function they perform in those communities. Let me ask you, if the left continues down this path what do you think recruitment for policing will look like in the future? Do you actually think that it is fair that the left uses the bad cops, an extremely small representation of the police force to represent policing in this country? Cops by the nature of their work come in to confrontational situations with the public some 350+ million times a year, can you imagine the lawsuits if the public could sue each time they felt disrespected by the police? How would that even t***slate into our court system.

You all keep doing what you are doing instead of looking for reasonable solutions and you will not have to worry about defunding the police as there will no longer be any police departments to defund.

I figure that a “blue flu” by the police departments in several major cities will result in needless death and suffering to innocent Americans, and will reap no memorable benefit.

Communities should all have relationships with other law enforcement agencies just for such unlawful actions.

That is your opinion and you are welcome to it, personally I see it as a counter protest, you folks seem to think that all law and order can be suspended for a protest so what is wrong with the police making their own counter protest against the outrageous actions of their city governments?

Institutionalized r****m is being demonized.. not the police. The police are merely the first line offenders acting under the directIons of the society that oppresses those of color.

Have you become so defensive that you won’t admit that if there were no police, zero cops, on duty in a major city for a week, innocent people would be victims of all kinds of crime?
Your statement yesterday about John Roberts burning was a terrible thing to say; but today, you are just being silly.
Ease up.

No, that is exactly what would happen, but that is exactly what these protesters are asking for and I think that the police should stand up for themselves, stop taking the beatdown that the progressives and liberal establishment are waging upon them and give them a taste of exactly what they are asking for. Cops are not the enemy of the American people, and without cops in their neighborhoods the black communities would suffer unimaginable violence as street justice would be exacted at the hands of quasi warlords, but rather than omit this fact your side has chosen to demonize the police for political gain, I think it past time for the cops to defend their function in this society and the quickest and loudest way to do that is the Blue Flu.

The blue flu is justified as a protest. City leaders and politicians are the cause of blue flu.
