These Brown Thrashers escorted this snake, which appears to be a juvenile Moccassin, out of my yard and into a side pasture. they refused to let it stay in the area in which they were feeding. I would have killed the snake but I was too busy taking photos.

Good catch! I just can't let the venomous ones go free. The rest are safe with me.

Doesn't look like any moccasin I have ever seen. I don't blame the birds for getting rid of it. Nice photos. I definitely would have killed the snake.

Water moccasin or not I would've killed it. The birds have the right idea.
Great action shots I liked the soft touch on the wings gives it a feel of action.

I agree. By the time I got through taking pictures I couldn't find it. Thanks for looking, QD.

Thanks for looking, Bigmike. If you Google Moccasin you'll find it is very similar. I could be wrong. Like to think I am.

Thanks, Mike. Would have been a rattler in your area, I guess.

Nice series with a story! I didn’t know birds would do that.

Too bad it wasn't a hawk. That snake would have been lunch! Thanks for commenting, Carol.

Birds of all kinds will go after a snake to defend their nests. I once saw a Jay and a Mockingbird gang up on a Blacksnake. Normally, these two birds don't get along but they put their differences aside and joined forces to be rid of the snake.

There were some Cardinals that showed up at the end of this fight that I did not photograph. So, yeah, I agree. Thanks for commenting, cameranut.
