Even though I am working from home I still needed a few days of vacation. I got out for the first time to do a little shooting. I am in no way a morning person but I decided I wanted to try and catch a sunrise at Lake Ray Hubbard just east of Dallas. Since it is so close to the city it has gotten very commercialized but the marina has been around a long time. I was hoping to be able to include the sail boats. It was rough but I got my @&& up and headed out. I remembered my tripod and I shot in manual with a remote shutter release. All of my post processing was done in Lightroom. I would appreciate your comments.
Keni, I do not see anything.
My apologies. The file was too big and I was in a hurry.
Thanks
A very serene mood here, and I'm impressed you got up so early, Keni
Perhaps clone the three bits of leaves/branches on the left side in sky, and just for comparison, lighten further (very slightly) the already-light parts of the boats for definition. That may not work out, but...
So, will there be more dawn shots or is sunset your preference?
HEY! You just passed your two-year anniversary as a UHH member! Congrats 👏 🤗
What great dedication. I agree with Linda, clone those three little branches off the left side. I can't believe I'm saying this but maybe lighten up the whole picture just a little?
Well worth getting up early for. As was pointed out cloning the branch out on the left is a good idea.
How early did you have to get up to do this? I like the photo, I would make it just a bit lighter as I alway think mornings are brighter and sunsets are darker. Probably just me 🥴, forget it just enjoy your photo Keni.👍

Beautiful capture, Keni! The result is well worth getting up early.

Wow its hard to believe it has been 2 years. I am very grateful for all the help and encouragement I have received from everyone.
There may be a few more dawn shots but no its not going to be a habit I can guarantee that.
I took into consideration yours and Jack's comments and went just a tad bit lighter as well as cloning out the tree limbs. Its not a huge change but I like the results.

Thank you Frank. Those pesky branches are now gone.

Jim I got up at 5:30 and that is very early for me. I had everything loaded in the car. I threw my clothes and a hat on and hit the road. The marina is only a 20 minute drive from my house so I knew I had time to get there and get set up before the sun actually came above the horizon. It was definitely worth it. I want to try and catch the next super moon coming up there as well. Hopefully I can go early and there will be some sailboats out on the lake.
I am in agreement with you and the other comments, it did need to go a bit lighter. I have a couple of others where the sun was above the horizon but still below the roof of the boat slips and I caught the sun rays. Unfortunately it is just a row of slips and the backends of the boats so not a great subject but I can use the sky in something else. I appreciate your comments.

I'm not sure about the foreground. I think, that the totally dark land in front of the camera is not a required element for your story. This is more about the water, boats and the great sky. Just a thought.
