Just bought myself this lens and decided to take it down to a local conservation area to give it a spin. We were lucky enough to find a bird very rare to our area, the Marbled Godwit. I hope this lens continues to bring me more lucky finds like this!
Excellent set! I think you have a winner in the new lens.

Super sharp images. You have a great copy of that lens. Enjoy and create more superb images.
Looks to me like you are going to like your new lens.
I have this lens too but on the D7200....been happy with it so far although some say the Nikon 200-500 is a tad sharper with faster AF/VC...but I've also heard the reverse too! Of course the 200-500 is not an an option for your Canon. Also it looks like you cropped it? Below are a few on my shots - all at 600mm full 24mp 6000x4000. May not be the sharpest lens but it's pretty darn good for the price and gives quite a lot of detail, with better handling than the 200-500...the gull on the lamp is about 100+feet in the air and I was about 100ft from the base.
Nice series! Congratulations on the capture of the rare bird.

Thanks, Stan!! I have heard some copies absolutely stunk so I'm glad mine wasn't one of those!

Absolutely!! It's quite the step up from the Tamron 18-400 I have been using (although I still think that's a great lens for my needs)

Excellent images, Chris! Yes, I cropped the photos just to see how they looked and was so impressed, decided to post them! lol I know there are much sharper lenses but like you said, for the price, I am blown away by the quality. I'm just a weekend photo hobbyist so with some more practice, I hope to get the full potential out of this lens. Just need to upgrade my camera body now

Thanks so much! There was a sighting of one last year but I missed out on it...so glad I got this one!
