Based on a recommendation from UH member rmorrison1116, I used Authorized Camera Repair in Willow Grove, PA to repair the sticky aperture blades on my Nikkor 35mm f/2 D lens.
I first contacted them by email with a description of the issue and received a prompt reply from Matt, giving me an estimate for the repair and turnaround time. I received my repaired lens in just under 4 weeks (as it was estimated) and it now functions perfectly. Matt de-greased the blades, cleaned the optics and thoroughly cleaned the exterior. My lens now looks as pristine as the day it was manufactured.
The total cost of the repair was extremely reasonable and it even included return shipping. Matt is a true gentleman and my experience with Authorized Camera Repair was beyond excellent. Based on my experience, I highly recommend that anyone needing photographic equipment repair to consider Authorized Camera Repair.
Great review, thanks for the info.
Thanks for the referral... Wonderful that you found a stellar resource for your kit and that your experiance was very positive... Good Show!
I just checked them out and Matt seems like he's been in this game for quite some time..
Here's a link to their web portal if others are interested...

Thanks for the info, Boss. I only live an hour or so from there and will keep Matt in mind if I find a problem. Re: that Nikkor lens. That particular problem was an issue with them for some reason. Had to send mine away several years ago for just that same fix.

I was hoping they also did film camera repair but looks like only digital.

So how much did they charge you for this repair and return shipping?

Yes, it is a known issue with this particular lens. This was the second time that I sent mine in for the same repair. The first outfit that serviced did not do it properly and did not use the proper lubricant which was recommended by Nikon to alleviate the issue. They were also significantly more expensive. And, not to my surprise, within the last 2 years they have gone out of business.
Thanks for your reply.

The quoted (and charged) fee for my repair issue was $65 US, including return shipping. I paid much more for the same repair by a not so stellar organization which is no longer operating.
Regarding film cameras:
Info on their website under "about" says:
In August 1999 Matt moved to the Philadelphia area to work at Cardinal Camera Repair in Lansdale PA. In January 2005 he opened his own shop in Willow Grove. Since 1993 Matt has mastered the craft of camera repair, working on just about every type of film camera, lens, flash, digital camera and camcorder.
Why not call them and ask specifically.
Michael
Did you happen to mention who referred them to you? I've been doing business with them for many years and I always go to their shop in person. I doubt if the older guy who usually works the counter remembers me. He doesn't always come off as being the sharpest knife in the drawer, but one never does know, does one. Matt has always been helpful and honest with me. There have been a few times when he told me I'd be better off sending something to Canon. He said Canon could do the repair faster and cheaper than he could or, in the case of my EF 28-300L, only Canon is equipped to service that lens. I remember the first time I went there, over 10 years ago. My old Canon EF 28-70 f/2.8L was acting up. Matt said he actually had to make a part for the lens because it was no longer available from Canon. The lens has worked flawlessly ever since.

I think that is a fair/good price. It was exactly what I paid to a fellow UHHer, whose name escapes me at the moment but he is on here quite a bit. He also did a stellar job and, as I recall, he took about a week. Apparently, like you, I treasure this lens. Best of luck.

Yes, by all means I mentioned your UH "handle" (because I don't know your actual name) to Matt when I spoke to him. I told him that a post by you on UH was my source for discovering his business. I informed him that I was going to post my satisfaction on the forum. I forgot to mention in my original that posting was purely my own idea and I received no request to post nor did I receive any incentive to post about my repair experience.
Thank you for originally speaking up for Authorized Camera Repair. I give you full credit for referring me to them.
