I watched this on Amazon Prime last night. "The Vast of Night" is presented as a 1950s TV show, like The Twilight Zone. It's set in the 1950s in a small, friendly town in New Mexico. It's a rather calm and homey movie, and it proceeds at a slow pace, but it's fun to watch. It's a show I'd like to see on a continuing basis.

I watched it. It was too slow paced for me and not what I would really call a true science fiction movie.

If you want to watch a goofball sci-fi movie, check out "Space Captain: Captain of Space"
A spoof/parody of the old Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon serials...with a little Stars Wars thrown in. A nice "escape". Was originally an off Broadway play.

But you liked it a little bit, right?

It's definitely slow paced, but I like the 1950s small town background.

Thanks, but not my cup of tea. I want to be laughing at the end of a movie - not crying. Or if not laughing, at least not depressed. It's not available to me, anyway.

1956. Forbidden Planet. Great metaphor for several things, and introduction of Robbie the Robot. Sure the effects are dated, but we’re spoiled.

Yes, I've seen it. Good one.

I looked at the trailer just now, and I saw that a few months ago. Interesting story.

I’m a retired HS English/Drama teacher and back in the old days when the state encouraged creativity instead ofJust “teaching the damn test” I developed a Junior SciFi and Senior Fantasy Lit courses. Had to have film studies components too, naturally. Both were heavy on social history context - had to be.

So I guess your screen name is appropriate.
