I have bought refurbished/out of the kit Nikon brand items from Nikon USA and from US dealers and they always come in a white box. with the standard 90 days Nikon USA warranty. All purchases registered with Nikon USA, no a problem at all.

The OP's ?? were not about refurbished in white boxes...this has been settled already. Authorized dealers can break up new kits and the purchaser has Nikon USA's appropriate warranty for cameras and lenses.

Great deal! Shows the value of building a solid relationship with your local merchants.

Yep, it's a USA warranty. I've already registered it with Nikon NPS, same procedure as I did a couple of years ago with another white box purchase. This camera store dealer is my friend that I have dealt with for over 20 years. So there is no chance of this being anything other than a legitimate USA lens. These are legitimate USA kit lenses in a white box. This is Nikon's practice and also Canon as well. Since these are packaged for a kit sale, Nikon is saving on packaging costs by using a white box and not that more expensive gold box packaging.

You know, I am beginning to regret that I even brought this subject up. It was my intent to tell UHH'er's that there is an opportunity to save on purchasing these white box lenses. I saved $400 over the cost of the white box vs the gold box. However, after I reply to your post, I will delete this tomorrow. Some folks just don't understand the marketing process and packaging for the camera kits. This is a practice with Nikon that has been in existence for at least 10 years. I honestly thought I was doing a public service here. See you later, next post..take care.....

Thanks, Gene for asking the question though. I appreciate the fact that you know what I am talking about.

As is too often the case, a seemingly harmless post results in a days-long argument among all the "experts." It's all a lot of "blah-blah-blah." Don't take it personally; it happens on a daily basis. >Alan

To Tomcat - Mosquito Lagoon, New Smyrna Beach, Fl. which is located in between Cape Canaveral & Daytona Beach. It is part of the greater Indian River. Site of the 1768 Minorcan/Greek colony of 1400 indentured servants that came here with high hopes but only 500 walked away, including my 4th great grandparents, nine years later to St. Augustine. The lagoon is in my backyard and I can see the Atlantic Ocean out my front windows. I didn’t know any of this history until I had lived here for 15 years. Ancestry.com brought it all to life. By the way Minorca is a very beautiful island as is New Smyrna. Thanks for the chuckle and enduring the history lesson.

Thanks for sharing. I really do love the colonial era of our USA, especially Revolutionary War sites. I went online and read something about the Minorcans. That's quite a heritage you have and a history to be proud of that your ancestors survived the harsh conditions. As an aside, I think that the Indian River area of Florida produces the best citrus fruit in the nation. I can tell almost every time when I taste an orange whether it came from the Indian River.

Thanks for the comments. We used to get fresh squeezed Indian River orange juice here but we can’t find it now. My A1C is borderline so even if I could get it locally I could not enjoy it like before. A Brazilian company owns a large refinery in Leesburg, Fl. We get a mostly California oranges in our grocery stores. I’m glad you get to enjoy them. I was raised in the Jacksonville area and a suburb known as Mandarin, just south of Jacksonville and north of St. Augustine was well known for their Mandarin oranges. They were not pretty but were very tasty.

All the oranges get shipped out of state. When my family and I go to Orlando or other FL vacation places in Dec/Jan, we don't get genuine FL orange juice either. It's usually MinuteMaid or some other carton, but not fresh FL juice. Surprised about the Brazilian company because a lot of oranges in the summer come up here from Brazil, Chile, Argentina. Thanks for the info....
