I have white lightning lights. Mine do not have built in slaves for a flash. The specs in the Buff site do not say they have them. You will need to buy a couple of Pocket Wizards to use them without the cables.

Nope.
They must pick up some sort of signal from the flash. So far any flash triggers them, no cable.
EMF from the flash?
I'll try a LED flash and get back.

My bad. I got out one of my White Lightnings and tried it with a flash unit and it does fire. I have used them for so many years and always with pocket wizards that I forgot they had a built in trigger.

They do not work with LED flash.
They work even if flash is blacked off with tape.
They must sense the EMF from the discharge of the capacitor.
