It was not yet Golden Hour but it was the time available. Strong sun sidelight and strobes. They don't usually hang around once they spot me and not sure they are the same bird but actions suggest it was.

Really nice. I find it difficult to capture Bluejays, too. Very timid birds.

If you look closely at the feather patterns you should be able to tell, they are like finger prints - just a bit different. And the first one seems to have a longer tail than the others.

Our Scrub Jays are the same but if they get used to you they can be obliging and hang around for photos - I find peanuts in the shell will both attract and keep them around a short time while they select one. I have watched a jay check out two or three or more before picking one, then come back later and get the others.

Thank you. I think they are one of the prettiest of the medium sized in this area.

Thanks. I do look but not all the time and usually it is when I am processing the images. I wonder why it is there are either 4million birds or none. I think they all gather and wait for a signal to drive me crazy. It works.
Honestly though I was just glad to relax for a bit. I thought retirement was supposed to give you more time.

It does give you more time. And since the boss isn't telling you what to do you also get to think of more things to use that time.
