Anyone who has either of these lenses I would like to hear from you......I can't decide which one to buy
#1 - Nikon AF-S VR Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED Lens
#2 - Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 VC USD Lens for Nikon F
the lens will be used mostly for 1 - Water Drop Photography
2 - Butterflies / insects
I have the Nikon. I use it for macro and portraits. I’m very happy with it.

Very happy with my Tamron 90mm for macro and portraits.
OEM isn't important to me. But I have the Nikon 105mm and couldn't be happier with a macro.

The Nikon will have a better resale value.

Speak to the macro section. I bought a SIGMA which I'm happy with but that's not in your list.

I have the Nikon, and it is very good for any macro work I have done. I ride with the brand and my horse likes it that way.
I have the Nikon and am satisfied but there was a review of both these lens in an edition of Photo magazine , a Nikon owners mag.
The Tamron got the award , particularly with the issue of image quality. Sorry , but I did not keep the articles although you can purchase back issues on line . Might be worth a look
I use an old Nikon 105 mm f4 from the 80's. It is an excellent and sharp macro lens. I wish I would use it more often.
I have that Tonika BUT my Nikon D850's focus stacking setting will NOT work with it....I contacted BandH photo and the tech said it was not comparable when the D850 was in the focus stacking mode.
I do like the lens but I need the focus stacking mode.
I agree. I too have the Tokina and chose it over the Nikon. Don’t want to deviate from your question but the Tokina is awesome.
It's optical performance is as good as the Nikon and great ergonomics,
I have the Tamron 90. Use it on a Canon 80 D for water drop photography with a splash art kit. Like it.
