Canon SX50

Canon has just announced the SX50 at Photokina in Germany. It has a 50x optical zoom, claimed to be the first of its kind for a compact stills camera.

Apparently, It is designed to deliver the 35mm viewing angle equivalent of a 24-1,200mm zoom!

Wonder what it is going to cost?

Can't wait to see some of the reviews. I am in the market for a nice bridge camera, I did look at the SX40 but now want to wait to see the new one!

MSRP will be $479, approx 50 more than the MSRP for the SX40.
Also can save in RAW, has option for remote release, has decreased the shot-to-shot time, and a lot more. I am saving my pennies!!

In the UK, the price is £450.00 i.e. it is VERY expensive, almost the same in Uk£ as in US$. Happy for all you folks who live in the US and want the SX50! :D

Couldn't you fly to Manhatten to arrive in the morning, buy one, go on a city wide shoot, have a great deli sandwhich, fly home in the evening, and save a little?

Probably have to get on the waiting list with a store like Adorama, B&H, etc. before coming.

Could have done just that, if Concord was still around!
