Were I the Governor I would grant their wish. You don't want the cops in your neighborhood? OK you got it. Pull the cops from those areas. Also the Fire Dept, because the police would not be there to protect them I wonder how long it would take fot the people in those neighborhoods to scream for the return of the police

Another good point is the theory behind the phrase, Thin Blue Line. It's what separates us from uncivilized anarchy, just the cops. Witness the mobs in Minneapolis when it wasn't there.

Actually the fire department seems a lot better equipped to deal with a r**t than the police. They have a lot more suitable tools.
