Search for certain focal lengths

Looking for a new lens but I was curious as to how often I use longer focal lengths. Aube I don’t use long focal lengths very often.

All my pics are in Bridge

Will probably start using Lightroom soon.

Have access to affinity, on 1 and DXO

Can any of these return pics ( number of pics) with certain focal lengths (200 mm for example) or, better, range of focal lengths (120-200 mm for example)?

Thanks

Whew. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Looks like he hopes to use his storage apps as a spreadsheet, to sort by the FLs that he used for each image.

These are mostly 400mm, check the title URLs that are links to the EXIF data on Flickr: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-649832-1.html

Search for exiftool. It will extract the info you want via command line on linux, windows, or mac.

In Bridge, the lower left part of window, there is the possibility of doing a search for Focal Length. I can't verify if it will do what you want, as I use a different image filing system than either Lightroom or Bridge. The top arrow show what to click on to get the list. The shows focal length or a specific focal length.

Lightroom allows you to see this data - see attached screen shot

The only isue is when you use a lens that is not electronically connected to the body (as many third party lenses are) th EXIF data appears as 0 MM

So while it does not give sums for focal length ranges, certainly you can add up a few lines' worth of data.

Hope that helps

F8lee- that’s exactly what I want (or is close enough)

Addendum to original question : is there a way to export the metadata ( maybe just some of it - focal length for example) to a format that could be evaluated by Excel or a database program, etc. thanks.

I don't believe you can export that kind of list from LR - no doubt some of the EXIF readers out there offer that capability.

I cannot speak from personal experience with a utility program called "NiftyFileLists", but I do use the same company's program called "A Better File Renamer" to rename my image files before importing them into LR and it works well. I see in the description of NiftyFileLists that you can export CVS format data of EXIF data...might be worth a try.

What is it that you are feeling you are lacking now, with the pictures you are taking. Or, what do you want to take that is a problem, in you mind. It could be from macro to supper wide to long telephoto.

Glad to be of service.

And I'm always sorry to see how some folks have such a need to make a comment even though said comment doesn't even address the OP's question at all. Well, you just can't cure stupid, I guess.

Sorry for mangled English

"Aube I don’t use long focal lengths very often."
should have been
"Not sure if I use long focal lengths very often."

I believe the iphone made a few corrections for me.
