I have seen many examples on UHH of photos processed to look like a painting. I haven't had much experience with PS filters, but I thought I would give it a try. I took a photo today that I thought would make a good candidate.
I started with the radial filter in LR to vignette the edges, and then lit into the the filters. Actually, none of them gave the effects I wanted, which was a water color. Besides the original photo, I have included four other tries. Is it possible to do what I want, or do I need other software? It seems that those who post good painting effects often use special software.
Thanks!

I actually like the original or the oil painting better than the others. Thank you for sharing.

For a watercolour effect I would try less contrast, less saturation and less dense shadows. If you Google "watercolor filter" you might find that there's free stuff out there. Watercolour is a popular effect. If you reposted in the Post Processing section you'd probably get lots of specific suggestions and advice.
