Out a few nights ago testing out my Rokinon 14mm f2.8 to compare with Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 shots from the night before. The lights of Cheyenne and Ft Collins are on the horizon and reflected by the clouds. The Moon is lighting up the foreground and clouds. bright "star" top center is Jupiter, just to the left is Saturn and center far left is Mars.
I am impressed by the Nikon but the Rokinon is no slouch.

Beautiful. Funny, because many talk down the quality of the Rokinon but all photos I’ve seen taken with the lens have been exceptional. Thanks for sharing it.

Beautiful image. I’m in the market for a wide-angle lens for my D750. The Rokinon is an option I had not considered until now. Thanks for sharing.

Great shot. Care to share the technical details?

Would it be possible for you to post a similar shot taken with the Nikon 14-28? I’d like to see the difference between the two.

Thanks, I agree. For what it is and its reasonable price it is a jewel.

Thanks JoAnne. I wish I could convey the feelings, sights, smells and sounds that go with this image. When I push my tired old body to get out and shoot I always come back refreshed.

Thanks, it takes more work with the Rokinon 14 but staying within its limitations you can get some pretty good images.

You bet. Nikon D750, Rokinon 14mm f2.8. Shot at 13 sec, f4 and ISO 1600. Two images RAW processed in PhotoNinja, combined with MS ICE and finished with GIMP.
Thanks for looking.

Sure, here it is. The main differences I saw were that the Nikon is much sharper all across the image and the vignetting is much less severe. The Rokinon is very soft in the corners and has significant distortion and vignetting. The center of the Rokinon is very sharp over about 80% of the image. If you can work within these limits it does a good job.
I misspoke about when the two images were taken. Rather than a day apart they were actually take about a week apart. The attached image was taken after the moon had set and the previous image was with the moon just going down. As you can see, the colors and saturation are very different. Hope this helps.
