#2 gives us more focus on the hills, the God beams and the effect of the lighting on the landscape but #3 gives us more of the story by showing us the source of the lighting and showing how widely the landscape is affected by that lighting. Assuming that I already had close-ups of hills, I would definitely choose #3 because of its relatively unusual framing and the extra story-telling.

If you're struggling with the green in the bottom right hand corner of #2 you could try tint-shifting green a bit towards yellow in the HSL section (if you have one) and possibly desaturating it a bit as well. That would cause it to lose much if not most of its greenness, but it would look less hinkey and it would fit in with the overall colour cast of the rest of the shot. As it is it jumps out at me as looking a bit unnatural.

I love Clearing 2 (the last pic). I like the atmosphere and I think cropping some of the vegetation away at the bottom was a good idea as now it doesn't grab the eye away from the subject.

Your usual excellent landscapes often have that mysterious fog layer. I like the colors of the third version. Did you do much enhancement of the sky? It looks very natural. Excellent work!

Andy
Lots of sky talk on UHH recently 😁 There's a large dynamic range in these, so I also did a lot in my PS Elements raw editor in initial stages: lessened contrast and whites, for example, raised blacks. I know in the closer shot, and I believe in the longer view, I did some selective dodging and burning to help bring out the rays + the lightest area near the mountains. There was very little color in the initial raw capture so I've helped that along.

Many thanks for your time and interest, Andy!

Thank you, R.G.! And for the suggestion for the de-greening; that should work well.

I'm posting two versions of the closer shot because I have not yet decided what colors I like best, nor how much detail I want. Perhaps you can help me?

Feedback and suggestions welcomed on all. Many thanks for your time.

I like all three. However, #2 is my favorite. Very nice.

I like all of the versions presented Linda, but #3 would be my pick. If I saw a large print of this one it would stop me in my tracks.

Linda, given the title “Clearing,” I believe the first one best represents the idea of a storm clearing. The other two have a more ominous look, thus not representing any clearing, to me at least.

Thanks very much, John. An excellent point since I was the only one who knows what happened after I shot these Appreciate your time!

Let me see ... my wife's Raspberry Ribbon Pie ... my sister's Peach Custard Cake ... or my mother's Lemon Meringue Pie. Much too hard to choose. BTW, are the "streaks" in the sky verga or crepuscular rays?
