I have taken some more photos of the young nestlings, being very careful not to be noticed, staying in the car, and leaving after a few minutes. It appears that their eyes are blue but I think it is a reflection from the membrane covering their eyes. I have noticed the same effect on the parents. I think they will be fledging in a week or so. The nest is very crowded with 4 or possibly 5 large "babies." (Downloads best)
Great series of a nest full of squawking, hungry kids. #1 is an awesome shot. Thanks for posting those.
Thanks so much, Hereford. They seem perpetually hungry. It must be exhausting feeding them.
Wonderful chronicle, Katy! Excellent detail.

Thanks, Mike! I was frustrated by the branches leafing out, but they really need that protection from the heat and sun and from predatory hawks.
