I have an Oly OM D E M1 Mark2 that I PP raw files with the Olympus Workspace software. I don't know if it is my computer or the program but it takes forever to work on and edit the files. Does anyone use this program and find it as slow as I do. Considering changing to a different program.

A good place to start your troubleshooting is with computer system requirements, including ram and GPU. See:

As a practice once per year I totally redo my boot drive. This gets rid of many conflicts and broke strings that can occur with all the updates that windows goes through. There are many reasons for a slow computer, a failing drive, not enough memory, processor not to spec for program, many programs running in background, and the worst a virus.

No problems on an underpowered Dell desktop that was used as a remote keyboard and monitor for work. The only issue is the program wants me to register each time it is opened. The export to .TIF is a bit slow. Maybe RAW files from a TG-5 are smaller than your files, and process faster?

Olympus PP software is slower than PSCC as I use both but prefer PSCC

I use workspace with Olympus raw files. It is not particularly slow. You do need a newer GPU for the GPU to be used. Mine is too old but the program works fine but takes a bit longer to update image when magnification is large. I usually batch export to .TIFF and this takes time as many files are written. Program seems responsive enough to me, however. In general, I find the program to be quite useful.

I have had several interactions with Olympus regarding this software. They were very responsive. I was the first to point out the GPU issue. You should note that your raw edits will not be saved if you move the raw files to another drive even if the new drive is a clone of the old one. Some other programs use a file to store raw edits. This file is in the raw directory. If the directory is copied then the edits will remain in the new location. As of version 1.3 no fix for the directory issue. If your GPU is too old the program will not use the GPU. You can check this under tools and options.

I use Olympus Workspace all the time with my Olympus RAW data. It seems to work very well for me in my computer.
It is very possible, like others have suggested that you need to update your computer.

Thank, you Linda. I did check your link and I do seem to have the system requirements. I have a Toshiba i5 series core w/8GB of ram and free space.

I have the same issue with registration.

The computer may only be meeting the minimum requirements. Does it have a separate graphics card? How old is the computer?

Probably the software. I have tried it and found it, as you do, painfully slow. I stick with Lightroom.

Did you ever try CCleaner software? I use it at the end of everyday and it gets rid of all that stuff! That would save you an awful lot of headaches having to reload your operating system along with all the other software. It gets rid of all the leftover junk files, and it has an option for getting rid of all the obsolete items in your registry. It is a very popular piece of software and it really works. I have used it for years, and they have a free version or a full complete version for around $29.oo. Try it, you won't be sorry. If you are worried about a virus get a copy of ESET Internet Security; you can get really good deals on it at Amazon instead of paying full retail. I just bought a new one last month that protects 3 computers for 2 years for $45.00.

I use Olympus Workspace on 2 laptops, a 2011 Samsung and a 2018 Samsung. It’s reasonably efficient on the newer machine but definitely drags on the older one. Not a problem for me since the older one is relegated just for my photo stuff and I’m just getting into PP.

Try the free PhotoScape X. I didn't like Workspace for my TG-5, but PhotoScape X is quick and easy using a 4-year old Dell with Windows 10.
