An owl series and a few more...
Went birding this morning. Many of the interesting, unique species have migrated either North or up into the mountains. By visiting several sites, however, we found a few interesting subjects, which I attach below. The Common Raven was one of several in a park where the crows and ravens outnumbered all the other birds. We then visited the Madrona Marsh in Torrance and found a beautiful Anna's Hummingbird and an interesting Leucistic Yellow-headed Blackbird (Leucistic = plumage includes unusual white feathers even though the bird is NOT albino). We then tried Dune Park and found that it has not yet been reopened, but a local resident pointed us to some tall eucalyptus trees occupied by a pair of Great Horned Owls. We were lucky to get some interesting poses from the owls, so I have included a series of them for your viewing. Finally, I caught a good shot of a Great Blue Heron in a locked refuge in Long Beach. I hope you find these interesting and that you have a healthy and rewarding weekend.

Thanks for the comments, RetCPO. I hadn't seen the typo so they are now "Great Horned..." and not "Great Horney..." I appreciate the compliments. Take good care of yourself and have a nice weekend. jak
