Like an idiot I left my camera bag outside last night which is no problem, but it rained and the closed canvas messenger bag got wet. Unfortunately one of the compartments which stores my hoodman loup was partially opened and the loup got wet. Also the optech straps on the bag got wet. The camera body(Inside) seems to be ok with the 18-135 mm lens hooked up to it. Their was slight condensation on outside of lens..What can I do to dry out the bag or should I just throw it out? as even if I get it dry is their too much chance of rust forming on it or fungus. Need advice on drying out the straps? Just leave it in the sun or? And how to dry out the hoodman loupe lenses as it can be taken apart. Any advice would be appreciated!!

I would dry the bag and straps outside in the sun. I would Dry out the Hoodman with a Microfiber towel.

What about just putting the canvas bag in a clothes dryer? If there are plastic or rubber components, then dry it in the sun or on low heat.

Might have to let it dry for a few days.

It will dry faster wherever the relative humidity is lowest (inside/outside).
A small fan on it will help accelerate the drying process. (open the lid)

Sorry, but you are not an idiot. It will happen to most of us at some point in time. Dry the equipment first and the bag second. Even though my Olympus E-M1mkII is weatherproof / dustproof, I will wipe and clean off the rain, salt spray, and dust off the camera / lens first. Since it is a canvas bag, it should not have been harmed by getting it wet as long as you dry it thoroughly. Any steel that is not true stainless should be wiped down with a cloth with a little WD-40 on it. Once the bag is totally dry, spray a drop of WD-40 where rivets go through the canvas. That will help prevent rusting. If the bag has no steel or rivets, once totally dried out, no more problems. And don't beat yourself up about this; just go out and take more pictures.

set oven to 125 degrees, bake for one hour. spread out on a cookie sheet and let dry. You can serve it when it cools.

Sun or airing cupboard. Don't put it in the tumble drier as canvas will shrink (unless it says pre shrunk on the label).

For billnikon: Wrong! It takes 250 degrees and and you have to spray the cookie sheet with Pam, prior to placing the camera on the sheet and putting it in the oven. Damn, I thought everyone knew that. And best served warm of course.

Definitely let the bag dry - a nice bright sun would be ideal. WD-40 will take car of the zippers, etc.

I posted these links for drying a few minutes ago.

Using rice - not!

Stuff the bag and pockets with old newspapers. Let osmosis due it’s job, then air dry.

Yeah, toss it in the dryer.
I even wash my Domke bag in the washer then toss into the dryer.
