We thankfully got a good downpour on Day 4 which not only lead to this fun shot of puddles but meant that we would have a supply of pothole water for the rest of our journey (12 days total). In the background of that puddle shot are the domes of what we call "Lost Cowboy Country". That's where we did a fabulous 9 day hike/climb last spring which I posted last year (we've also backpacked there on a 26 day hike in 2015 and first backpacked there in 1995). It's across the San Juan River from Paiute Mesa which we are exploring in these photographs. We've climbed along the tops of all of those ridges in the background last year. The second photo was taken while cutting across the Mesa (only possible in a few places). Photo 3 shows one of the hundreds of domes that we climbed (with Navajo Mountain in the background), while photo 4 gives you a sense of our camp life. Stay tuned for more tomorrow! (of course all of these images are best if viewed through the download).
Nice shots. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice. There is so much to see down there.
The potholes are beautiful. Such a wonderful trip. I actually envy your doing it!

Look like a great trip. Nice pics. How long can you stay out without no puddles for water?
Great series. Enjoyed it a lot.

Excellent! I would not be able to climb those slopes.
