Time for a good book

Hogs,
I have been using Elements for some time and I spent time investigating Affinity Photo. I would like to now use the industry standard - PS and LR. I have watched many tutorials but I also like a good book for reference. I know about Scott Kelby's contributions but authors like Martin Evening and Rafael Conception are new to me. Any recommendations for books on either LR or PS are sought.
Thanks,

The photoshop bible pretty much explaines the whole program and even has a few tutorials. Good and easy read!

The PS and LR "Classroom in a Book" are both excellent. They both come with some samples and exercises that you can download from the Internet and work along with the text. Both are available on the Adobe website.

I highly recommend Martin Evening. He is very linear in his approach and very detailed. You can get his book in a pdf version, which is what I have. He knew the guys who developed both PS and LR. You can also check out my LR website if you are so inclined, http://viathelens.net. One of the best free tools is the LR help manual that Adobe has on it's web site. There is also a version you can download, although it can be a bit difficult to find. Read any part of the help manual that pertains to the Library Module and you will be way ahead when you start to use the software. Good luck and enjoy the journey.

speters,
Was that the old testimony or the new testimony? What is your interpretation of what constitutes this bible?

Thank you via the lens,
Very helpful and your website seems to contain some gems. I will spend some time there. Mr. Evening's current Lightroom book (at about 700 pages) might be a great reference source and I have also heard good things about his style. If I can find the LR reference in Adobe I will use it. If I spent as much time actually photographing instead of reading about editing you could call me Ansel. Thanks for the good wishes.
