Good post. It is too bad that there are those who just cannot understand any of the tenets of public health!

If you are old and weak stay home.
Let the rest of us LIVE life.
Herd immunity works far better.
More people are now dying of suicide in CA than of the Chinese virus.
This is so stupid and moronic and only for mental midget losers.

I beg to differ a bit: I’m almost 78 with a low immune system. In my case, it’s about me.

Then hide in your basement.
It is NOT about you.
The rest of us have no obligation to destroy our lives, economy and families for you.
Your obligation is to get out of the way and stay home and hide.
99% of us do not need to be ruled by greedy old sick people.
We have lives as well and that does not include you.
So stay home and do not come out. And remember the flu kills more old sick people every year so do not dare come out during flu season either.

Could-Not-Agree-More!!! Well said. Let us not degenerate into a political debate but simply marvel at all those who are so selfish and inconsiderate of others. Sure we need to open the economy but there are ways to do it PROPERLY and wearing masks and using social distancing is key to that.
I read the story of a holocaust survivor talking about the current restrictions. You are quarantined in your immediate region, with TV, no food shortages, no disease, fear of being shot and can be aware of everything that is happening in the world via the internet, can take walks outside and all this for maybe 4 -5 months? And you cannot even accomplish that?

Remember we ALL will get old. At this point a lot of younger people are getting sick. It can happen to anyone.

My my my....listen to you. The last time I heard talk like that was that fat kid bully back in grade school....you know the one that now lives with his mom and flips burgers at some run down joint.
Yes, it is all about your...Don't Tread on Me...lifestyle. Zero consideration for others.
I am so glad I do not live in the US and feel badly for all those in the US that do care about each other.

It is not about hiding in a basement or any other trite put down. It is basic health. Go out. But do it responsibly. Do wear a mask to help protect others in case you are an asymptomatic carrier, keep some distance between yourself and others.

Those that congregate is masses like we are seeing on the TV today will certainly help to the winnowing of the gene pool with early and untimely deaths.

And I really doubt that Tattoo Parlors are an essential service.

You’re so self absorbed that you miss the point entirely.

The old and sick are greedy self centered snobs.
The rest of the world must move on. If you want to hide in your basement absolutely NO one is making you go out.
How many lives, businesses and dreams must be destroyed because of old narcissistic people who think the universe must bow to them and what they want at any cost to 99% of the population?
This is really sick and self centered to destroy other's businesses and dreams and families so you do not get sick as you wander the streets.
Stay home and do NOT come out. It is that simple.

This captures the problem. Our very important freedom to associate and mingle with friends and family and so on is a right that should not be hindered in MOST circumstances. But @$(#%*$@ it this results in endangering the lives of others. Life is more precious than social contact, isn't it? It sucks, but the math is right.

In your scenario it seems the key was visiting someone indoors. In other words, the virus was passed indoors. Most cases, it has to be overwhelming, are caught indoors. I wouldn't judge peoples attitudes and culpability just by what you see outdoors. I think being outdoors without a mask and keeping social distance is fine.

Self absorbed (insert any non-complimentary human being noun here).... and you’re proving it with every comment to this post.
