My 7500 was flashing ERR and would not work. Nikon literature said send in, and first three Utubes said clean lens contacts. Didn't help. Next utube was extremely short and all he said was press the shutter. IT WORKED!! Hope this saves angst for someone down the road because I thought mine was going back.

I don't have a Nikon, but it is So Very Nice when UHH's share unique fixes to knotty problems with each other.

Were you using a lens with an aperture ring? I had the ERR message come up on my D300 because I didn't have the aperture ring set to its upper limit. The particular lens was an old 35-105 which is autofocus until you get to infinity and then goes into manual mode to focus in macro. I bumped the aperture ring just slightly and got the ERR message. Getting back to f22 got rid of the ERR message.

No aperture ring. You would think I would have tried shutter, but nothing else worked on camera and never occurred to me.

Thanks Jimmy T. I shoot real estate and had a back up camera, but the 7500 really works well for me. Assuming Nikon still down and no one close so thought of sending somewhere was a real pain

The err problem on my D750 pops up when I try doing video - everything locks up. I have to remove and reinstall the battery AND THEN hit the shutter release. A lot of mirror noise going on. It's like the camera gets all confused when using "live view". I have given up shooting video on the 750 and now looking at the Nikon P1000 or the Sony RX10 IV.

I would send the D750 to Nikon service. Certainly sounds like there is a malfunction in this camera.

I have had the same problem with mu D7200. Turned it on and off, took out the battery, etc to no avail. Tried the shutter button and it worked. I had been shooting bracketed photos and apparently didn't complete a series.

THX for responding.

I have considered sending in for repair but the "still" side of the camera is good and I have heard horror stories of cameras coming back with other issues once opened for repair. I really do not want to risk a very expensive repair bill and end up sending it back- possibly spending a lot of time out of my hands. I think the new "bridge" cameras are better at video than my D750 anyway.
