An excellent picture.
BugGuide is fairly amazing, and regularly frustrating since its search function is 'dumb'. It won't recognize a search term if its singular while the match is plural, or vice-versa, for one thing. One misspelled letter and ???.
But there is no better way to ID to species in one place.
Thanks, Mark. I know little about insects (except chiggers) and I rely on pictures from others to help me know what my finds are. Of course there are so many varieties and variations that for a guy like me unless the picture is an exact match I'm left scratching my bald head.

Chiggers are no fun. Once in you, it is two weeks before they are gone.
Wiping down with alcohol kills them, but doesn't remove them.
Preventing them from getting to you is the only answer.
Tuck pant legs in socks and use DEET. Tape long sleeves and DEET.
Wear light color pants and you may see them. Tiny, red, they smear red when crushed.
Antihistamines help with itching.
But, they are not insects. 😀😀

Bill, I agree that they are not insects, they are the Spawn of the Devil sent from the fiery depths of Hell to torment man.

So, you've had them too.
Bill, although chiggers torment me at times, my largest discomfort encountered when in the field is from poison ivy which I tend to get on my hands which I suspect comes from me touching my clothing. I blister and the pain lasts for a few weeks.
