I read it. I wish other leaders would.
It reminds me of past armed conflicts: either you escalate blow by blow or you just deliver a knock out punch as quickly as possible.

Got that right. It all happened in January while the West was doing nothing.

It’s in General Chitchat.
It's not true that the West was doing nothing.....the Congress was all tied up with impeachment and everybody else was engrossed in the Harry and Megan split from the Royal Family. And if that wasn't enough, 2000 Democrats were trying to become President (so they could get their very own impeachment trial).
Fortunately, the news media was on the case …..wait, maybe not!
Never mind....
Well done Mongolia, that is impressive.
The second wave may be the scariest. And it will come.

The West did nothing in January while Mongolia got its game on. That is the point of the article. Perhaps you missed that in your rush to condemn Democrats.

Nations in that part of the world have ample experience with previous outbreaks, SARS, etc. They take it more seriously. Those nations are prepared with PPE (ever notice how some people at the airport are wearing masks even when there is no known outbreak?), are prepared to ramp up testing and are prepared to enact social distancing measures. And the people there, perhaps having experienced pandemics, are more willing to comply with government edicts, either out of concern for their fellow citizens, or fear of punishment.
In contrast, we in the west still can't decide if government did too little, too much, too soon, too late, or for too long.
