This week's theme for the Facebook Create 52 Group is refraction. Some of you have done refraction photography with glass spheres or water drops. I've been having fun with a wine glass full of water

In #2, the colors are from a separate overlay/background file. The white lines are the spaces between the slats in my vertical blinds (behind the glass).

If you are interested in trying refraction photography, feel free to post your results here. Thanks for visiting!

Beautiful and very different examples of refraction, Linda! I love the first still life image, and the second is lovely in form and color! I looked everywhere for one of my droplet pics but couldn't find it, so the crystal ball in the swamp will have to do. For those not familiar with the crystal ball (or photo ball), the image in the ball is upside down. I chose to change mine by making a selection of the ball and then giving it a vertical flip.

The light, the dof, the flip - a super engaging result. Thank you for more inspiration, Donna!

Love what you did with these, Linda...especially that first one.

Someone posted a refraction challenge some months back, so you know me...I had to stick my toe in the water...lol

1st try, and probably my favorite. I had taken the sailboat image several years ago in Aruba.

These are wonderful, Tim, with several great ideas people can try! I wish I had a CD in the house

Appreciate your comments and participation.

Didn't know the term refraction. I have been playing lately and will post a couple. Do these count as such? What I have been doing is floating different blooms in tonic water. Shooting outside in the golden hour seems to work well. I have been trying different lights. I try to shoot parallel to bloom or from below. Fun is choosing a fast shutter speed and slightly get movement of subject rotating in liquid. I use focus ring moving slightly to get surprises from the bubbles. After time the fluid may get murky from pollen, etc. Stir to increase bubbles.

Thank you, Sandy, these are fascinating! I love the idea of a bit of motion too.

Do your posts look dark to you? They seem very dark on my Chromebook. I brightened one to compare:
