Sony and Hasselblad have announced a partnership that will result in an E-mount camera, a compact camera and a product for the DSLR segment. Hasselblad says the aim of the partnership is to 'cultivate new markets for photo enthusiasts and consumer digital imaging products' and will begin with an E-mount camera, called the Hasselblad Lunar. The use of the words 'DSLR segment' implicity doesn't rule-out the possibility that Hasselblad will adopt Sony's SLT system (or simply re-brand one of its models).
WOW!! And I thought the RX1 was expensive! We ain't seen nothing yet. Zeiss and Hassie lenses for my Sony. I'm saving up my nickels and dimes. I'm gonna need em.

Been there, done that. How do you think I paid for your flash extender? ;-)
Still waiting on a check....not worried.....should be here tomorrow.....right?
Still, $8000+ for cosmetic tricked out NEX-7 is a bit steep
Panasonic and Leica do the same thing. A badge engineered Panasonic FZ with a Leica name on it costs a couple hundred more. Same holds true for lawn and garden tractors. For a few hundred more you get a nationally recognized paint color and cosmetic change to a basic tractor made by another company.

A lot of these high end camera manufacturers subcontract their work out...Cosina comes to mind with the Voigtlander Bessa L....Do any of them say where the items will be made & who will make them??

Reading the DP review, pros using the current Hasselblad products don't seem to happy about the merger. Most seem to think that it will just cheapen the Hasselblad name and result in expensive "toys" for the rich who are looking to collect for a potential increase in future value.
Personally, I'm wondering about the current Sony users having to pay mega $$$ for a Sony having a Hasse label down the road.

In a situation like this, it's the companies that benefit the most - mutual cost reductions. Remember years ago when Cadillac took a mid-size Chevy and put the Caddy name on it? People could get a "Cadillac" for a low price - but was it really a Caddy?
