Sometimes it is a good idea to check before walking out onto your patio for those "stay at home" photo expeditions. Yesterday is was a 5 foot rattler, today this Gator.
Have to expect some "visitors" when you live in the swamps of South Louisiana.
Only had time to use my iPhone. By the time I rounded up my D500, the gator was back in the pond in my back yard. At least I didn't have to fetch him out of the pool (as has happened before).

Looks like a friendly Gator to me....he has a smile on his face!!!
So far only Gopher snakes have shown up in my yard but rattlers are sure to come. We throw them back into the desert behind us as they are good for keeping down the rodent population.

up here in Vermont we don't get such exotic (or such dangerous) visitors … just the odd bear raiding the birdfeeders … good luck keeping the critters at bay, and don't put your feet where your eyes haven't been ...
Tastes like a mixture of chicken and pork, delicious.

I've been involved in serious conflicts involving a group of folks who wanted to see what alligator sausage was like. They decided to share an order "just to see." After trying it, they each jockeyed to get the entire order for themselves. I learned long ago to order my own and not try to swim in that pool.
Ahh-that's just a "toe nipper"!!!
I live in Edgewater Florida and my wife and I take regular walks in the neighborhood. Less than 150 ft down the street is a drainage canal that an alligator about that size can usually be found.
They get much bigger here and in Central Florida we have had a few people killed by those big ones that have become unafraid of man due to illegal feeding.

You must lead a very exciting life!
There is a great little family run Cajun restaurant in Forest City, Arkansas, (on I 40 about half way between Memphis and Little Rock) and their gator is great.
Baton Rouge here ChackBay.
And as for those of us south of I-10, we say first you make a roux...
One hell of a wakeup call.
